Hurst Recieves Two Regional Contractor of the Year Awards

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry Recognizes Hurst

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) recently announced the recipients of the Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) awards. Northeast Ohio based Hurst Design-Build-Remodeling received two of the prestigious awards. The firm was selected for two projects completed in 2013 including a historical residential kitchen remodel in Lakewood, Ohio and a whole house renovation in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Pat Hurst, co-owner of Hurst Remodeling and the firm’s lead designer said, “Our entire team is so proud to have received this recognition from our industry leaders and our peers. Our designers and certified Lead Remodelers worked with our clients to create beautiful spaces with great functionality while remaining true to the historical and architectural integrity of each home.”

The first of the two recognized projects was a kitchen remodel in a 1922 Lakewood home. The homeowner wanted to improve the style and functionality of their small and dark kitchen. Hurst designed an entirely new space removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. They were able to re-build the home’s back porch creating enough space for a new bathroom and more functional entryway. The selected materials and finishes perfectly complimented the home’s style and history.

The second award was for a whole-house remodel in Shaker Heights. This contemporary, multi-level split was originally designed by renowned architect George Burrows. The family was looking to update the look of the home and improve the functionality of the kitchen. In addition to the kitchen remodel the project included all bedrooms, the living room and all bathrooms. The materials selected were stylish and unique and were carried out consistently throughout the home. Concrete countertops, bamboo cabinetry and glass penny tiles added the finishing touches to this beautiful project.

According to Pat Hurst, “Every single detail of a remodeling project is important. Our team works tirelessly to get it right from the design and material selection to finish carpentry and making sure customers are well informed and their expectations are met or exceeded.”

These Hurst projects are now in consideration for national recognition by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. The national awards will be announced in New Orleans on March 28th. Hurst was the only remodeling company in the East Central Region to be recognized by NARI this year.
